Hřensko is the main gateway to Bohemian Switzerland National Park. The Kamenice River cuts through sandstone gorges — boat trips through the Wild and Edmund gorges are among the region’s highlights. From Pension Festung in Petrovice it is about three quarters of an hour by car — usually a full-day outing, often combined with shorter trips to Tisa Rocks or Sněžník.
The park’s symbol is the Pravčická Gate — Europe’s largest natural sandstone arch. Trails, viewpoints and seasonal boat services make it a favourite for guests from our pension.
Why visit from Petrovice
- Classic Bohemian Switzerland — gorges, rock gates and forest walks.
- Family-friendly options — boat rides and shorter routes with planning.
- Fits a multi-day stay — one day for Hřensko, others for Tisa, Germany or Děčín.
Practical tips
Peak season means queues for boats and busy car parks — start early and check NP rules and reservations. Sturdy shoes, water and weather-appropriate clothing are essential. After a long walk, Pension Festung is a calm place to recover before the next excursion.
